About Akiba Commercial Bank:
Akiba Commercial Bank, a leading commercial bank in Tanzania, is currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager to join its dynamic Finance team and spearhead the financial accounting unit.
Position: Senior Manager, Financial Accounting
Location: Dar es Salaam
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Monthly/Quarterly/Annual financial reporting and submission processes within prescribed timelines.
- Ensure meticulous control over financial reporting, aligning with IFRS, Companies Act, Taxation Act, and the bank’s policies and procedures.
- Manage the audit process, review external audit submissions, and address audit queries for timely closure.
- Safeguard the bank’s reputation with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Ensure accurate accounting for all taxes, providing regular updates to management and the Board.
- Monitor developments in the Bank of Tanzania Reporting Regulations and ensure timely implementation to meet reporting requirements.
- Foster collaborative relationships with various bank departments, including Treasury, Credit, Commerce, Operations, Risk, and Compliance, to uphold the quality and accuracy of report filings.
- Lead or participate in Regulatory examinations, internal, and external audits.
- Identify opportunities for automation of regulatory returns, keeping the reporting system updated with business development.
- Support the implementation of system changes to comply with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Stay informed about industry, regulatory, and accounting developments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Mandatory professional accounting qualification such as CPA (T) or ACCA.
- Seasoned Finance professional with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial position.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory reporting requirements in the banking industry.
- Self-motivated with strong analytical, technical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal departments, external auditors, and regulators.
