Abdelhak Benchikha, Born on November 22, 1963, in the Soustarah neighborhood of Algiers, Algeria, Abdelhak Benchikha is a highly accomplished Algerian football manager with an impressive track record. Hailing from the village of Sidi Abderrahmane in the commune of Timezrit, Boumerdès Province, Benchikha has left an indelible mark on the football world.


Commencing his managerial journey with CR Belouizdad, Benchikha clinched consecutive league titles in 2000 and 2001. His prowess then took him to various destinations, coaching MC Alger, the Algerian Under-23 national team, and a successful stint at Umm-Salal Sports Club in Qatar, where he secured promotion to the top division in a single season. Subsequently, he joined Tunisia’s ES Zarzis.


In June 2007, Benchikha inked a deal with Club Africain in Tunisia, leading them to a league victory in his inaugural season and securing the North African Cup of Champions the following year. Despite a contract extension offer, Benchikha parted ways with the club in March 2009.


Assuming the role of coach for the Algeria A’ national team in June 2009, Benchikha guided them to qualification for the 2011 African Nations Championship. Later that year, he took on the responsibility of coaching the Algerian national team, resigning in June 2011 after a defeat in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco.


Benchikha’s managerial journey continued with spells at various clubs, including Difaâ El Jadidi, Raja Casablanca, IR Tanger, Moghreb Tétouan, Mouloudia Oujda, DH El Jadida, RS Berkane in Morocco, Al-Ittihad Kalba in the United Arab Emirates, ES Sétif in Algeria, and Al-Ittihad Tripoli in Libya.


In December 2022, Benchikha joined USM Alger, achieving remarkable success by winning the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup in 2023. Despite these accomplishments, he resigned in October 2023, citing reasons related to sporting and professional aspects, amidst earlier reports of insults directed towards him at a stadium entrance.


Throughout his illustrious managerial career, Benchikha has amassed numerous honors, including league titles and cup victories with esteemed clubs such as CR Belouizdad, Umm Salal, Club Africain, Difaâ d’El Jadida, RS Berkane, and USM Alger.”
