The NBC Premier League, also known as Ligi Kuu Tanzania Bara, is the prominent men’s professional football league in Tanzania. The league, featuring 18 teams, runs annually from August to June, with clubs vying for the championship. Young Africans currently holds the title, having secured the most championships.

 

Throughout the 2022–23 season, Simba SC, Young Africans, and Azam FC garnered significant online searches. Notably, Sunderland clinched the inaugural Premier League title in 1963, marking the league’s inception.

 

The teams are divided into three tables, with promotions and relegations based on performance. Each team participates in 317 games within a season, and the victor is determined by the highest point total at the end of the year. The top-performing team advances to the main competition or preliminary qualifying for the Champions League, while an additional team qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup competition or preliminary qualifiers.
